Melbourne Uni Rugby Club scores top recruits

Stefan Prelevic (left above), winner of the inaugural 2011 Victorian Schools Rugby Union Young Achiever Award, and runner-up Andrew Gillies (right), have launched their University of Melbourne academic and sporting careers in style, catching up with Melbourne Rebels player Luke Jones (centre) on campus recently.

The award is presented to the student rugby player who best exemplifies the characteristics that University alumnus and Australian Wallabies player Sir Edward “Weary” Dunlop was famous for: leadership, academic endeavour and sporting excellence. Stefan and Andrew have enrolled in Science and Commerce degrees, respectively, and will follow in Sir Edward’s steps and play with the Melbourne University Rugby Club this year.

University of Melbourne alumni, staff and students can take advantage of discounted rates on Melbourne Rebels membership, and support the Melbourne University Rugby Football Club, through the Rebels’ Conversion for Clubs program by calling 1300 069 413 before 21 February 2012.
