An election is being conducted for two professional staff members on the
Academic Board for a term of office from 1 January 2010 to 31 December

3. Copenhagen Climate Change Convention delegation

The University of Melbourne is now registered as an observer to the UN
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) process, enabling staff
and students to register with the UNFCCC to attend any sessions in
Copenhagen or other meetings. To be included on the University's
official list of delegates, email Annie Bolitho

4. Vice-Chancellor's Colloquium on Teaching and Learning

Themed 'Knowledgeable and Inquiring Global Citizens' this colloquium

7. To Germany and back: opportunities for academic cooperation and exchange

On Tuesday 10 November, the University will host a German Day to promote
and strengthen the University's academic collaboration and exchange
programs with Germany. The program will include a public lecture by

8. 2010 graduate research scholarships

31 October is the closing date for local students' applications online
via SCHOLS for the main graduate research scholarships offered as part
of the Melbourne Scholarships Program (Australian Postgraduate Awards,
Melbourne Research Scholarships, Fay Marles Scholarships, Human Rights
Scholarships, prestigious scholarships). Applicants must complete and
submit their application on SCHOLS by midnight (AEST) on 31 October and
may submit required documents the next working day. Late applications
will only be considered for any Melbourne Research Scholarships

9. Launch of the Melbourne Institute of Indigenous Partnerships (MIIP)

Professor Ian Anderson, Director of the Melbourne Institute for
Indigenous Partnerships (MIIP) invites staff to the launch of the MIIP
Institute and the first Indigenous NARRM Oration - 'Indigenous
Partnerships: Enduring Relationships, Knowledge Transfer and New
Economies' by Professor Mason Durie, Professor of MÆori Research and
Development and Assistant Vice-Chancellor (MÆori and Pasifika) at Massey
University, New Zealand. The MIIP will be launched at the conclusion of
the Oration by Vice-Chancellor Professor Glyn Davis. Thursday 5

12. . Digital Print Centre online ordering

The Digital Print Centre has launched a new step-by-step online ordering
system. Staff will be able to obtain an instant quote, submit jobs
online, upload print files and check the status of jobs. Go to

13. Quality of desktop support services

The University is participating in an IT service quality survey to
benchmark performance. During October all University staff will receive
an invitation to complete a short survey focused on Desktop Support
Services. Feedback will help us understand how well current services are
meeting staff requirements.

15. Graduate diploma in young people's mental health

The Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Sciences is being offered in
conjunction with Orygen Youth Health as a two-year, part-time
correspondence course. The course supplies health professionals and

22. First aid training in November

First Aid Management and Training is offering CPR, First Aid Level 2 and
First Aid Level 2 Refresher Training on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 November

tickets

18-25 year olds are invited to participate in a 15-minute online survey
about their views on gambling. In compensation for their time,

Programs are now open for registration. There are three different
levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced, with courses running every
